Longshoreman's Daughter Coffee
Seattle, WA
Fremont's finest, since 1982
Curator's Notes
Lori Mason, the eponymous Longshoreman's Daughter, has been roasting coffee in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood since 1982, making her one of the longest-running specialty roasters in the city and a true godmother of the Seattle coffee scene. Her cafe, ETG (Espresso To Go), is a cozy, chandelier-bedecked space that has outlasted trends, giants, and decades of change in a neighborhood that looks nothing like it used to. Female roasters are still a rarity in the industry. Organic-only sourcing is rarer still. Lori does both, roasting small batches on her sunny yellow 12-kilo roaster and developing a unique profile for every hand-selected bean. A true Seattle original. In the cup, expect roasty, toasty, well-developed coffees with a savory edge — fruit and florals with a side of spice, molasses, and smoke. Always balanced. Always Lori.
