Provision Coffee
Tempe, AZ
Key to a well-provisioned kitchen
Curator's Notes
Provision Coffee was born in Arizona in 2011 with one goal: build community through quality coffee. Co-founders Dan and Lawrence traveled the world meeting smallholder farmers, learning the lifecycle of coffee from farm to cup, and building the kind of transparent, long-term direct relationships that most roasters only talk about. Provision commits to at least three-year buying agreements with their producers, providing real financial stability and genuine partnership. Their lineup is intentionally focused: three to five very distinct single origins plus carefully crafted blends, chosen for quality and consistency season after season. As a homage to their community based roots, the native prickly pear cactus has the high honor of being their logo and the name of their house blend. In the cup, expect approachable, beautifully balanced coffees with rich caramelized sweetness and juicy, inviting acidity.
From the Roaster
Provision started in 2011 with the idea of bringing the stories of smallholder coffee producers to coffee buyers and drinkers. We wanted to have fully transparent buying practices, and through that vision Provision grew into a coffee roaster, wholesale, and retail company. Our goal was, and remains, to make coffee approachable for all people. We continue to be quality focused, with the emphasis on longevity, commitment, and sustainability. Through this vision, we have our mission statement: “To build community through quality coffee, food, and beverage.” Our coffee is sourced through relationships with a particular importance on reciprocity and sustainability. Long term commitment is a major tenet to our buying practices. We aim to make at least 3-year commitments with producers, thus providing more financial sustainability for the years to come.
