Red Rooster Coffee
Floyd, VA
Virginia is for (coffee) lovers
Curator's Notes
Red Rooster Coffee was born in 2010 in downtown Floyd, Virginia, population 432, when Rose McCutchan needed great coffee for her existing coffeehouse and her husband Haden Polseno-Hensley took on the challenge of roasting it. Word spread fast. What started as a small-town roasting operation has grown into one of the most celebrated specialty roasters on the East Coast, with Good Food Awards, US Coffee Roasting and Brewing Championship titles, and a team of over 40 people. But what sets Red Rooster apart isn't the trophies. It's their commitment to Floyd itself: hiring locally, paying living wages, providing full health benefits, contributing to local charities, and in 2018, opening an onsite daycare for employees' children. Big flavors from a very small town, and a blueprint for what a truly community-rooted business can look like. In the cup, expect beautifully crafted, award-winning coffees with the warmth and character of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
From the Roaster
Established in 2010 in downtown Floyd, VA (pop 432), Red Rooster was created with the simple notion of roasting excellent coffee for the owner’s existing coffee house. Soon, word of Red Rooster's quality spread around Virginia and up and down the East Coast.
