Stamp Act

Stamp Act

Seattle, WA

The revolution will be caffeinated

Curator's Notes

Stamp Act Coffee was founded in 2018 by Andrew Kent, a Seattle native who took the long way home. He worked with coffee growers in Ethiopia, built a roasting company in Singapore, and spent years in Australia perfecting the flat white before returning to Seattle with a world's worth of coffee knowledge and one simple dream: bring it all back home. Their name is a nod to the colonial-era tax that sparked a revolution and helped turn America into a coffee-drinking nation. Even their logo is a history lesson: a Benjamin Franklin cartoon of a segmented snake, with the abbreviations of Seattle's seven hills replacing the original colonies. Roasting with an Australian sensibility — lighter profiles, a love of espresso and milk-based drinks — and sourcing thoughtfully from relationships built across the globe. In the cup, expect delicate, vibrant single origins and seasonal blends meant to make you happy no matter how you take your coffee.

From the Roaster

We believe that the best way to bring people together is through coffee, and if you’re a history buff, you know that drinking coffee has been a symbol of unity in this country since before its declaration. The Stamp Act was one of the taxes imposed on the American colonies, and one of the key catalysts that led to our revolution from Great Britain…a revolution that included kicking tea to the curb and embracing coffee as our national drink of choice.

"This had a good flavor, however, I expected a little nutter taste, it was lighter than anticipated. I tried to brew a little stronger and it helped a lot. "

"This is a good bag of beans, but it is a little more acidic than I had hoped, however, I still enjoyed. I pet it would be good as a pour over. "

"Excellent coffee. It does kind of taste like matcha, kind of trippy to be honest. It invokes a cozy warm feeling even though I don't normally like green tea, I much prefer black teas. "

"I loved this brew. Many times, fruit forward coffees taste sweet and the chocolate notes are drowned out. Not for this roast: I got chocolate covered blueberries and a rich body. I felt like I could taste each flavor note described on the bag: Praline, chocolate and Berry. One of my favorite roasts from Bean Box, thus far. "

"Very tasty, I had to grind it a few times to find what I think is its sweet spot. Good flavor profiles and medium bodied "
