Verve Coffee Roasters was founded in 2007 by two college friends, Colby Barr and Ryan O'Donovan, in Santa Cruz, California, rooted in surf culture, a love of music and design, and an obsession with exceptional coffee. Roast Magazine's 2024 Roaster of the Year, recognized for innovating the coffee industry while uplifting every person who touches the coffee lifecycle. Their Farmlevel Initiative pays above-market premiums to producers exceeding Fair Trade minimums, every time, no exception. They host coffee summits where growers share knowledge, and their Nursery Project has distributed tens of thousands of coffee seedlings to farmers in Colombia. Back home in Santa Cruz, their HQ runs on solar panels, paper-free workflows, and compostable packaging. One of the defining voices of third wave coffee in America, and one of the most genuinely impactful roasters on this platform.
