Zoka Coffee
Seattle, WA
Seattle's coffee legacy since 1996
Curator's Notes
Zoka Coffee Roasters has been shaping Seattle's specialty coffee scene since roasting their very first batch in the fall of 1996. When they opened their Greenlake coffeehouse on January 7, 1997, their mission was simple: fresh roasted coffee, talented baristas, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. Nearly three decades later, that mission hasn't changed. Their name says it all — Zoka means the rebirth of the coffee tree in Colombia, the moment after a thorough pruning when the tree grows back stronger and more productive than ever. National Barista Champions in 2002 and 2005, Roast Magazine's Macro Roaster of the Year in 2008, Good Food Awards finalist, and USA Today's top ten great places for caffeine and conversation. Countless PNW coffee professionals earned their stripes here first. In the cup, expect reliable, beautifully crafted coffees with the warmth and character of a true Seattle neighborhood institution.
From the Roaster
Zoka roasted the first batch of coffee in the Fall of 1996. Four months later, on January 7, 1997, we opened the doors to the Greenlake coffeehouse in Seattle. The hope was to positively impact our community with truly fresh roasted coffee, talented baristas and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ve grown to four cafes, a direct-to-you mail order option and a robust wholesale business.
